Named in honor of Vava Angwenyi, a pioneering figure in the coffee industry, Vava Kenya AA represents much more than a remarkable cup of coffee. Vava Angwenyi is a coffee producer, exporter, and advocate for social justice. Having pursued higher education in economics, statistics, and mathematics, Vava discovered her passion for coffee early on and has since used her expertise to drive significant change. Through her company, Vava Coffee Ltd, established in 2009, she has championed equitable practices and education within the coffee industry, focusing on empowering women and young people.
Vava’s innovative approach includes leveraging data to foster long-term solutions and creating sustainable opportunities for African agripreneurs. Her impact extends to founding Gente del Futuro, a social impact enterprise that collaborates with coffee professionals and producers globally, and La Dulce Toro Café in Lamu, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Vava’s commitment to improving incomes for producers and advocating for gender empowerment highlights her transformative role in the coffee world.
