Hazy Peach comes to us from our partnership with Qunqana Washing Station, located in the Bensa region of Sidama, Ethiopia. Asefa Dukamo and MuluGeta Dukamo own Daye Bensa Coffee. Established in 2002, Daye Bensa serves as a hub in Sidama; with over 16 total washing stations, 4 dry mills, and a farm of their own. Qunqana also serves Sidama as a drop-off point for hundreds, and sometimes even thousands of other small-lot coffee producers in the area.
Daye Bensa Coffee is a long-time passion project for Asefa. As a young boy, cultivating coffee and other garden crops was an expectation as the first son of his parents. As a teenager, Asefa established himself as a coffee supplier. However, there were a limited number of washing stations where he lived. He found himself traveling long distances to find a market for his coffee. This sparked the dream of owning his own washing station which would allow other local coffee producers to cut their travel time down, cut the cost of transportation, and allow the cherries to reach the stations while fresh. Qunqana produces coffee out of a commitment to serve their local area and a passion to yield some of the best coffees in the world.
Hazy Peach Ethiopia features deep sweet flavors like peaches and red plums as a result of the high elevation and a honey processing method. The honey processing method keeps more fruit intact throughout the drying phase, resulting in a bold sweetness in the final cup. This paired with the delicate and smooth body reminiscent of green tea is sure to leave you wanting more after every sip.
