Golden Plum Bolivia is a coffee from the Copacabana community in Caranavi, Bolivia. While this coffee has zero to do with the Barry Manilow tune, we’ve listened to that song close to 200 times since we heard the name of the community that brought us this coffee. Nestled within breathtaking landscapes, this community is home to indigenous people from the Aymara culture. Caranavi, derived from Quechua, translates to “peaceful place with good views,” perfectly encapsulating its stunning surroundings. With its roots weaving through the Andes, Golden Plum Bolivia embodies the essence of its mountainous terroir. Grown at elevations of 1350-1740 meters above sea level, this coffee offers a clean and subtle body with a bright, slightly tart profile.
The blend showcases Catuai and Typica varieties, both carefully processed through a washed method. Catuai, celebrated for its reliable yields and consistently good cup qualities, establishes a solid foundation for the blend. Meanwhile, the Typica variety, known for its lower yields but exceptional cup qualities, introduces a layer of complexity and depth to the cup profile. The result is a delightful fusion of flavors, featuring notes of black tea, plum, and honey, creating a unique and unforgettable experience.
