“Kinini” means, literally, “this big thing right here.” Kinini is also the name of a washing station and cooperative located in Kinini, Rwanda which collects from the neighboring villages of Tumba and Mageragere. 85% of the members are women, which makes this innovative group even more remarkable. Passion Fruit Rwanda is a fully washed lot of Bourbon from the Kinini Co-op, and it’s so tasty, that it’s something to be passionate about. With sweet notes of marshmallow and bubblegum paired with the complex acidity of passion fruit, lemon-lime, and orange, Passion Fruit is something special from Rwanda that’s best shared with the one you love.
10 years after starting a school for children of genocide in Rwanda, and with no knowledge about coffee other than that the Rwandan government was supporting a transition towards specialty coffee, Jacquie Turner and Malcolm Clear wanted to find a way to have generational impact on communities without having to continually fundraise $ for aid projects. Today, their coffees score 87+ on average, which is no small feat for novices or masters alike, and are a testament to the power of passion.
