Let’s face it, you’re a nightmare before coffee. To celebrate one of our favorite movies and life’s magical elixir (coffee), we’ve brought back this Halloween favorite — Nightmare Before Coffee. This medium roasted single-origin coffee from Bolivia is spookily delicious. In a cup of Nightmare Before Coffee, you’ll taste sweet notes of milk chocolate and dynamic notes of candied orange. The short run is available in our cafes as well as at stonecreekcoffee.com. Each half-pound bag is $9.00.
Nearly 95% of the coffee grown in Bolivia is done so in Los Yungas, a fertile region on the eastern slopes of the Andes northeast of La Paz. Los Yungas has the ideal coffee growing conditions, including extremely high elevation and reliable wet and dry seasons. Coffee harvest starts in May & June and finishes in October & November annually. Moving coffee from Bolivia is a challenge, but this coffee made it all worthwhile. As a whole, Bolivia only exports about 20,000 bags of coffee each year, so to be able to share this coffee via a Farm to Cup relationship is special, to say the least.
Agricafe is the leading producer of specialty coffees in Bolivia, and is owned and operated by the Rodriguez family. For 25 years, the Rodriguez family has been sourcing and exporting coffee, but due to the reduction of coffee production, made the decision to invest in planting their own farms. As of 2020, they have 12 farms, 8 in Caranavi, Los Yungas in La Paz, and 4 in Samaipata in Santa Cruz. The “Fincas Los Rodriguez” project not only acts as a constant source of coffee production, but also represents a real world example of local producers showing what can be achieved with good planning and modern farming techniques. This particular offering from the Rodriguez family comes from their Fincas Carnavi of the Fincas Los Rodriguez in Caranavi, Los Yungas, La Paz, Bolivia, and underwent a washed process.
