Deep Dive with Harmony:
What is the Environmental Impact & Product Life Cycle project and what was the thinking behind your work on it?
The Product Life Cycle is information about a product from its production at the beginning to its end. We begin with where the product is made and end with how long it will take to break down in a landfill with some bits in the middle about what the project is made from and how long it can be in use. With this project, we want to bring mindfulness to our products and how they affect the world and the people around us. This work will help SCC make better decisions on what products we bring in and in turn bring that education and awareness to our customers. We hope this work will make folks think twice about their own carbon footprint.
Why is this project important?
We only have one planet. We should do what we can to honor it and the people who call it home. SCC has partnered with other like-minded businesses to bring thoughtful, quality products to you and our customers. Small changes can make a big impact. More businesses need to do their part to ensure the health and safety of the people and the planet.
What changes can we see in cafes and online?
You will begin to see different types of products made from organic and/or recycled materials coming in to fill the shelves and hangers. We will highlight these items, as well as items that are made by other fellow B Corps, with Impact Stickers to help tell this story.
How should our teams talk to customers about this work?
Let the Impact Stickers guide your conversations with customers. As a guest is checking out with the new Fibonacci Coffee Plant Tee, mention the Impact Sticker. “Hey, did you notice this tee is made with organic cotton? It’s also made with recycled materials. Pretty cool, right?” More info about each item will be added to our ecom postings online in the coming weeks. You can find that in the “Environmental and Social Impact” Tab directly on the product page.
