Greetings from the West Valley of Costa Rica…
We are learning that the harvest this year in Costa Rica will be down 10-20% due to a cycle of a bigger crop some years. However, this actually means that since there are fewer cherries per tree that the fruit will be a bit more intense. Here are a few photos from yesterday’s visit… We’ll be showing more when we return to Milwaukee!
Oscar owns the micro-mill, Genesis, in the West Valley of Costa Rica. He is one of my favorite individuals in coffee. We buy his coffee each year for Stone Creek. Smiles all around to see each other again:
Here we are visiting a drying bed at Cerro San Luis. We love returning here! The care and quality is wonderful to witness.
At Herbazu, we worked with Antonio on preparing a special coffee for Nationals in February. This coffee will be a Villa Sarchi (this is the variety of coffee) and the process will be Yellow Honey.
Today, Saturday, January 10th, we’ll be visiting two larger farms/mills we buy from in the Chirripo region today. Then we’re heading back to San Jose this afternoon. Again, we’ll be sharing more when we return to Milwaukee!
See you soon,
Eric
