A Sweet Sanctuary in the Andes

High in the remote forests of Cajamarca, a place called Querocoto is quietly rewriting what Peruvian coffee can be. Here, at 2097 meters, María Elena Luque tends her farm, La Naranja, where heirloom Typica grows slowly under the shade of ancient quina trees. This was cattle country until the 1990s, when locals returned from Jaén with seeds and a question...would coffee take at this altitude? It did, beautifully. María Elena arrived at this land fifteen years ago as a widow with three children to raise. Coffee became her livelihood, her daily labor, her path forward. Harvest after harvest, she built a life from these steep slopes. Today, her children are educated. Her coffee is exceptional. And the sweetness she’s cultivated through years of perseverance is here to share.

At the mill, everything slows down. The cherries are washed in pure mountain water, then dried slowly on raised beds until the beans hold nothing but clarity and promise. This meticulous washed process is where Candy Mountain Peru comes into focus. How fresh is your coffee?

Our coffee is roasted fresh to order and ships within 24 hours to ensure peak flavor. For optimal taste, we recommend brewing between 4 and 21 days after the roast date—this allows the coffee to degas and fully develop. After that window, it will still taste great for several weeks (or more), especially if stored in a cool, airtight container.
