A Roast for Storytelling Season

As the nights grow longer and Lake Michigan's winds turn restless, Ghost Ship arrives… your perfect companion for crisp autumn evenings. This dark yet nuanced blend unites Costa Rican cacao depth with Peruvian fig and caramel warmth, creating a cup that's like your favorite well-worn sweater: comforting yet full of character. Its bold body stands up to frosty mornings, while its subtle tea-like finish invites you to linger over that second pour. Gather 'round - this is coffee made for swapping tales as the leaves dance outside your window.

From the Mist-Shrouded Highlands to Your Cup

This dark roast begins with premium coffees from two distinct origins. In Peru's Cajamarca highlands, 88 small farmers cultivate Bourbon and Typica varieties at elevations where cool mountain air slows maturation. Their coffee is carefully washed and sun-dried to preserve its inherent sweetness. Meanwhile, in Costa Rica's Central Valley, Caturra and Catuaí varieties develop deep chocolate potential under the tropical sun. Our master roasters coax out each origin's best qualities through precise caramelization - the Peruvian beans kissed by heat just enough to develop toffee-like complexity, while the Costa Rican component reaches a deeper roast to unlock intense cocoa richness. The artful combination creates a velvety dark roast with remarkable harmony, where bright Peruvian character cuts through the Costa Rican base's full body like a lighthouse beam piercing through the fog.

How fresh is your coffee?

Our coffee is roasted fresh to order and ships within 24 hours to ensure peak flavor. For optimal taste, we recommend brewing between 4 and 21 days after the roast date—this allows the coffee to degas and fully develop. After that window, it will still taste great for several weeks (or more), especially if stored in a cool, airtight container.
