Nestled in the Génova region of Quindío, Colombia, lies a 10-acre farm shaded by numerous trees, standing guard over its verdant landscape. Here, you’ll find Leonid Ramirez, an industrious and skilled coffee farmer with a lifelong connection to the world of coffee. Leonid’s journey began as a chapolero, the traditional term for a coffee picker, while he was still a student. This early experience laid the foundation for his eventual venture into coffee farming.
At the age of 25, Leonid acquired fertile land suitable for coffee cultivation, marking the inception of his personal coffee odyssey on the farm he proudly owns. Despite facing challenges in the initial years, where profitability eluded him, Leonid tenaciously invested in superior equipment to elevate the quality of his coffee. In 2016, a meaningful partnership bloomed between Cofinet and Leonid, focusing on the Cortina de Hierro farm. This collaboration empowered Leonid to explore innovative fermentation techniques, such as the delightful anaerobic honey process.
This one is for you and is a celebration of Leonid and the unwavering spirit of the coffee industry. The toil and dedication of individuals like Leonid contribute to the creation of unique and exceptional coffees, enriching our collective experience. Let’s raise a glass to coffee farmers, to coffee importers, and to you—admirable coffee enthusiast and Earth dweller.
