Many of us are familiar with Fair Trade certified coffee. In the coffee world Fair Trade has two meanings. First, Fair Trade is used to denote that a coffee is certified Fair Trade
by TransFair USA. Fair Trade is also used in the broader sense to denote that a given coffee has been sourced in fair manner. This fairness may hinge on an economic model, environmental or other sustainability model. Many coffee growers are not certified by
TransFair USA to sell under the label fair trade but do grow and produce their coffee under principles of fair trade or social responsibility. These other certifications can be either from organizations in the US such as Smithsonian Bird Friendly Coffee or by certifications specific to a country or cooperative, such as Socially Conscious Coffee from Brazil.
Stone Creek
currently offers 11 socially responsible coffees that are either Fair Trade
Certified by TransFair USA or certified by another agency of social responsibility. Not all coffees are available via our online ordering.
