First the sad news: Unfortunately, we will not be reopening our Chicago cafe on Belmont Ave. We remain very proud of this cafe and our CHI-based team. This was a strong cafe for us in regards to being our second highest customer count when ranking all of our cafes. However, we had (and will have) a lot of internal discussions and difficult decisions to make. In light of the current landscape and the focus on digging out of the red while planning for survival into the future, we have decided not to continue on with this cafe. Our tip toe into Chicago has been an amazing learning experience for us, and we thank you. We’ve informed our staff and have provided them with the option to join our Wisconsin cafes. Yesterday, we sent out an update letting people know that our Downer Ave Cafe was open for pick-up window service. We’re blown away by the response and feel so humbled that others continue to believe in us. We’ve been testing our new mobile ordering system in tandem with new day to day operational systems. We are in heavy learning mode, and are very grateful for the feedback provided by so many along the way.
We don’t want to sugarcoat it: This path we’ve been traveling has been really hard. With a lot of planning and elbow grease, we are now ready to announce the timeline for the reopen of the rest of our cafes. Starting next week Monday, May 11, we will begin opening 2 to 3 cafes at a time. The hours will be 6:00AM to 5:00PM, Sunday through Saturday with a few exceptions. As each cafe reopens, a limited selection of items from the Stone Creek Bakery will be available as we (re)ramp up our bakery. We will, of course, have your favorite drinks, beans, and some swag available for purchase through the Stone Creek Coffee Mobile Order App and our web-based ordering platform. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience, but unfortunately, we weren’t able to integrate our cafe gift cards with our mobile platform for this phase of our reopen. If you could be patient with our baristas, we will be able to accept them again when we invite customers back into our cafes. Also, the app and online orders will be the only way we’ll be able to accept an order until the Safer at Home order is lifted and we are again able to allow customers back into the cafe space. When you come to pick up your coffee, we will have direction signage pointing you to the designated pick up area. In most cases, this will be directly inside the cafe vestibule door. As much as we miss all of you, limiting our interaction will help us create as safe of an environment as we possibly can for our employees and guests.
We are very excited to be able to share coffee with you again and are glad to be taking this step into the future together.

As Wisconsin continues to progress in its fight against COVID-19, we will begin to reopen our cafes in phases. We do have plans to eventually reopen the cafes to customer access and seating. We will announce those plans in the weeks ahead following the progress of Governor Evers’ “Badger Bounce Back” benchmarks.
