Our 2010 Summer Blend is made up of socially responsible coffees from Mexico and Sumatra:
Organic Mexican
ISMAM Cooperative
Our Fair Trade Organic Mexican coffee comes from the ISMAM Cooperative in Chiapas, Mexico. ISMAM was formed in 1985 to help fight against poverty and exploitation of Mayan coffee growers. Families joined together to address their need for technical assistance, processing equipment, and direct market access. Today, 8,000 members are benefiting from the organizations accomplishments. This coffee contributes brightness and notes of fruit to the Summer Blend.
Organic Sumatra
IKA Cooperative
Our Organic Sumatra is from the IKA Cooperative in northern Sumatra. Long time Sumatran coffee producer, Irham formed the IKA Cooperative in order to provide education, training and improved processing facilities to more than 1100 small producers in the area. Organizing the cooperative has allowed these producers to improve the quality of their product while Irham also helped to build schools and Mosques for the growers and the community. The Sumatran coffee adds hints of nuts and berries to the Summer Blend.
The result is a buttery smooth coffee with wonderful balance of citrus, fruit and chocolate. Summer Blend will be the perfect cup for a cool summer morning or poured over ice for the hot summer days. Summer Blend is now available online and in our stores - try some today!
