Yesterday, we unloaded our annual container of Brazilian coffee brought to us by our friends, the Sinay-Neves family. There was a bit of rain to contend with, but our team got it unloaded and now we can't wait to get the first batch roasted!
This year, our new crop of Brazil came from subplots eight, thirteen and twenty six. These plots produced the sweetest coffee on the farm this year. This is our third container from this farm and the third year of a great relationship with the Sinay-Neves family as well as Socially Conscious Coffee, a nonproft group dedicated to leading social projects on the farm for the harvesters and their families.
As part of our partnership, Stone Creek pays a premium on each pound of coffee we buy to help support a school and health clinic that was built on the farm for the harvesters. Each container holds approximately 330 bags of coffee...each bag of coffee weighs about 150 lbs...that's nearly 50,000 lbs of coffee! This coffee is a key component in our Green Bike Espresso, Milwaukee Blend and Full City Blend.
Not only is this a fantastic coffee, but buying it supports a great cause. Grab a cup sometime and enjoy the great taste along with the feeling of knowing that you are helping to change the life of people in need.
Sip slowly.
