Our Sumatra comes from the Lintong region in Northern Sumatra near the shores of Lake Toba. This coffee, unlike many in Sumatra is completely sundried and triple-picked in order to ensure the highest possible quality.
In order to ensure consistent quality for this coffee, our exporting partners in Sumatra have setup education stations to facilitate classes on improving agronomy, picking techniques and early preparation at the farm level. This has caused the quality of this coffee to improve and provided a better quality of life for the people producing it.
For us to consider dark roasting a coffee, it has to have substantial flavor and quality characteristics as a light roasted coffee first. This Sumatra is packed full of full bodied notes of tobacco and earthiness that hold up well under dark roast conditions. The resulting flavor is a rich and velvety flavor experience highlighted by notes of dark chocolate, toasted nuts and smoky earth.
