Dark Sumatra
Dark Roasts


At Stone Creek Coffee Roasters, we need a good reason before we decide to dark roast any coffee. While some beans benefit from a dark roast, other coffees lack the flavor or integrity to withstand the heat. But there are a few varieties of coffee that seem perfectly matched to the intensity of a full roast cycle and one of these is Sumatra. Sumatra is a bold, earthy and spicy coffee on its own, but once it is dark roasted it achieves an even higher level of flavor concentration and intensity. In order to create our Dark Sumatra, we raise the roast temperature on our Mandheling Sumatra to within a few degrees of a fire hazard. The result is a caramlized, bittersweet brew of unearthly darkness and supercharged flavor.
